CAMP HUMPHREY'S CAFES & RESTAURANTS

Whether you are looking for breakfast, brunch, dinner, or a nice place to chill for a couple hours with some friends, here are a few of my favorite restaurants and cafés in Pyeongtaek around Camp Humphreys.

Restaurants

1. Puffin

Puffin is by far my favorite restaurant near Camp Humphreys. It is an Italian restaurant, right in front of Walk-through Gate as you are walking into the Ville. There does seem to be others in Pyeongtaek, but I'm specifically talking about the one right in front of the Walk-through Gate.

Puffin is a great place for lunch or dinner. I would give the ambience a 10 out of 10 for a casual restaurant. The low lighting, and the soothing mixture of wood and leather furniture creates a very welcoming feel. You will walk into a café that always seems to be closed, but up the stairs you will find the restaurant.

The food selection is abundant and $$ (two money signs). It isn't the kebab place that was underneath it, but it's also not a five-star restaurant. I highly recommend the bruschetta, and the carbonara pasta. The drink selection is great too. They serve a selection of wine, but they also offer drinks such as margaritas and sangria. It is a restaurant though, not a bar, so if you go get some drinks with friends, it's a quieter place, so be respectful of others and order one of the many appetizers they have to offer.

Parking; if you are driving, you can park across the street or on the side streets.

Hours; They are closed on Mondays, but open from 11:00 to 21:00 Tuesday through Sunday.

Hwa Hwa is a good restaurant in Pyeongtaek for Korean BBQ. I love the ambience is casual yet comfortable and the prices aren't bad. It is also located on the main road, as you drive out of the Main Gate (Walk-through Gate). It is just one block up from Howard's Hotel.

The service isn't spectacular, they always seem to be very busy, but the food is good and they are pretty quick about bringing food out.

Address: 257-1, Geunnae-ri, Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea (34.04 mi) Pyeongtaek 451-802

To get here, you might want to drive or take a taxi. If you are driving, as you drive out of the main gate (Walk-through Gate), continue on the main road straight out of the gate. Drive past all of the Ville, and the restaurant will be on your left on the main road. You can't miss it.

Casa Brasil is a great place to go if you are really hungry. I usually get the one time meats and salad bar, and I leave stuffed. That costs about ₩23,000. The unlimited meats and salad bar is ₩27,000. The waiters and waitresses come around with steaks and meats on skewers, providing everyone with a variety of different meats. They include sausage, pork, all kinds of steaks, and pineapple. The salad bar has different kinds of rices, pasta, salad, soups, and other small foods. With the one time menu, you get to try all the types of meats. It also includes a cup of coffee, but I've never really been a fan of coffee at night.

This place is open for lunch from 12:00 to 14:30, and for dinner from 16:00 to 22:00.

Braai is a fun place to grab brunch or dinner in the Ville. It is tucked away in the middle of the Ville and is located on the second floor of a building. Very descriptive I know, but you'll find it. It has a huge window opening up to the Main Street in the Ville, so if you can score a table by the window, it's a great view, especially when it's snowing or even in the summer. The ambience is spectacular in this place, with all wooden furniture.

My favorite meal is the lamb pie with a side of French fries. To check out their specials, see image. I also enjoy their extensive drink menu. Thursday is ladies night, $10 for unlimited South African wine.

They are open Monday through Sunday and kitchen closes at 21:00.

Address: Waze "Wolfhound". 97 Anjeongsunhwan-ro 222beon-gil, Paengseong-eup (34.27 mi) Pyeongtaek 17982

Hours:

Monday-Thursday 4pm-11pm

Friday 4pm-1am

Saturday 11am-1am

Sunday 11am-11pm

The Wolfhound Irish Pub is tucked away in the Ville outside of the Walk-through gate at Camp Humphreys. By far, the best brunch you can find on the weekends near Humphreys. And I'm pretty sure this is just about the only place you can find mimosas in Pyeongtaek. Please, let me know of where else I can find mimosas. Wolfhound is also in Itaewon, next to JR's Southern Style BBQ if you want more places to check out in Itaewon. Wolfhound is great for brunch, dinner, or even just drinks on the weekend. If you go for lunch or dinner, try the Irish Stew.
